Minot, North Dakota

Minot, North Dakota

Minot is known for being home to Minot Air Force Base. The city's rich aviation history is explored through memorabilia and aircraft at the Dakota Territory Air Museum.

Minot has rebounded following devastating floods of 2011 and topped by an exploding energy boom in the nearby Bakken oil field. New hotels, new dining and many activities keep you occupied both day and night during an extended stay. It's a college town, a boomtown, and a small town and a big town … all at the same time. This vibrant city, home of the annual North Dakota State Fair in July, also features Roosevelt Park Zoo, Dakota Territory Air Museum, an art museum, symphony, opera and a number of local cultural organizations. The annual Norsk Hostfest is the largest festival of its kind in North America and is a tribute to the area's Scandinavian heritage. The Scandinavian Heritage Park is home to a beautiful Stave Church.
